About

multiphoniques.com is a research project with strong sharing and participative roots. Composers and flute players can search for multiphonic sounds by notes and fingering while referencing them in scores with their unique number. Concert flute players enthusiasts are also warmly welcome to contribute by adding multiphonics of their own discovery.

The project was born from a collaboration between 3 concert flute players. Sylvain Boisvert and Pierre Bernard started researching multiphonic sounds extensively and Olivier Colot is making this web application. Renata Kambarova also joined the core team later.

To represent multiphonic sounds associated to a fingering, we chose to distinguish whole that are clearly distinguishable from differential sounds resulting from the frequency difference between two or more sounds emitted simultaneously.
